Course objectives :

Increasing the students’ communicative competence in English at academic level of B2 CEFR through developing their language proficiency in both productive and receptive skills of reading listening speaking and writing.

Course Content:

The language areas to be worked on are directly related to the leading coursebook and all other materials and sources prepared by the teachers with view to the students’ level of language proficiency at the start of the course.

Learning outcomes:

Developing the four basic language skills both productive (speaking, writing) and receptive (listening, reading) at the upper intermediate level of B2 CEFR based on the coursebook materials, additionally developing students’ vocabulary range - academic, general, and ESP directly related to the students’ academic and professional interests. Increasing students’ abilities in the use of advanced English grammar in all language contexts, both spoken and written. Developing students’ awareness of intercultural communication – communicating effectively across cultures.

Methodology employed during the course:

Mainly communicative language learning at the upper intermediate level of language proficiency directly related to different forms of activity available during remote teaching – developing skills through pair and group work, discussions, preparing language projects, focus on practising short academic writing forms, vocabulary context- embedded work with immediate practice to consolidate the material, grammar tasks – context embedded, recognitions and use of various language structures for effective communication, both written and oral.
